SLMOTO Gloss Black Hard Saddlebags Saddle Bags w/Conversion Brackets Fit for Harley Softail Heritage Fatboy Deluxe Springer FLSTS EFI 84-17

I was quite pleasantly surprised by the quality of these bags. Some might find the installation a little finicky because the brackets are designed to fit a number of different bikes. I put these on an '03 Fatboy in about an hour and am very pleased with the results. I would recommend them to anyone with nominal handyman skills. You might need to ream a couple of holes for the best fit but other than that, pretty straight forward.

These bags were installed in a 2017 Heritage Softail Classic. I had to buy the Deluxe turn signals, because they were too long fit it with the bag. Before that, I ordered the small bracket that shortens the bar but they were still too long and the holes didn’t lined up, without having to cut the fender. The conversion kit worked great except for the brackets the go on top to hold the bags in place. They were too thick to fit through the bags without having it to force them in. I bought a different bracket kit for like20 bucks and it worked great with the conversion kit. The bags closed nice and tight but the key to lock it is pretty much useless because it doesn’t lock. Good bang for the buck and they look great in my opinion. I would buy it again.

Good quality beautiful bags

These are well made and almost exactly like the Harley Factory bags. The thickness of material makes them ridgid and adds to their quality. The latch and locks work great!Downside is the mounting grommets. The pin going through the grommet is too tight and location is ever so slightly off.I mounted these on my Kawasaki VN2000. Only modifications will be the forward mount at the foot peg location. Some people force it up to the foot peg bolt but I recommend you have a bracket fabricated.

5/13/2023: Final review. It has taken over six week to get my full refund. I did not get the full refund from SLMOTO the final balance came from the A-Z Guarantee.. As noted the bags did not fit. I tried working with SLMOTO and they issued me a partial refund to purchase a narrower turn signal bar as the stock bar was too wide. The Kuryaken turn signal bar was also too wide. I returned the bags. SLMOTO charged me shipping and restocking as I did not return the bags with 14 days. Obviously the reason I didn't was I was working with SLMOTO to try and get it to work. At this point SLMOTO was not communicating with me and I went to the A-Z Guarantee. A number of emails got me nowhere. Don't bother requesting a call from A-Z. You will get a computer that will take you in circles as long as you can take it. Over the next six weeks and chat with four or five different A-Z Customer Service people, I was run around in more circles. So the A-Z Guarantee isn't what it appears to be. Finally today Ruchi issued me a "promo" for the balance owed me by SLMOTO. I am not sure if the promo is there, but Ruchi says it is and may be used on my next direct Amazon purchase. Promo's do not appear in your account. Frankly, my feeling regarding this whole process is it is designed to wear you down and steal your money. If I were not retired I would never had the time to spend chasing this refund. But I don't like being ripped off. I will leave part of my earlier reviews if it seems relevant. But I would in no way, shape or form ever do business with SLMOTO again. You may let your conscience and wallet be your guide. The bags and price are outstanding, but be prepared to do a considerable amount of fabrication to make them fit. I was going to return the bags, as I am not a fabricator, but the company worked with me and discounted the bags so I could pay someone to fabricate the brackets to fit to the rails and purchase a narrower turn signal bar.. Nowhere in the ad does it mention the need for a narrower turn signal bar. (Little did I know this was going to cost me a shipping and restocking fee if it didn't work). As noted in other reviews the liners will be needed to be glued or use double sided tape to hold in place. Actually, you could use them as they are, but it wouldn't look good. Again no one but you would know as it is inside the bag. Others have noted the bags fit perfectly, I don't know why mine didn't. But from the above you can see I an never going to try again.

They don't tell you that, you need longer screws for the liners. And No Instructions. The Vidios don't show the liners going into the saddle bags.Thank'sDoc Patten

Mounting was a bit of a pain due to the grommets being extremely snug. The brackets are “universal” so the don’t sit just right, nothing I couldn’t handle making and adjusting to make it good though.

I was highly impressed with the quality of these bags, which matched the paint of my 06 Softail almost perfectly. While the mounting bars didn't align perfectly, I didn't need to drill any holes. I did have to apply some force to line up the pegstand mount, but it didn't affect the alignment of the bags themselves.I only had three minor complaints. Firstly, there were no instructions included, but if you're mechanically inclined, it's fairly self-explanatory. Secondly, the grommets and mounting bracket hardware didn't line up perfectly with the bags. I couldn't install the bags with the small brackets in place as I was worried about damaging the fiberglass. Instead, I had to install them together off the bike using vaseline.The problem arose when I wanted to remove the bags. I didn't want to go through the same hassle of forcefully jamming them on, so I decided to order a different nut/bolt configuration. This way, I can easily pop the bags off along with the brackets, avoiding any potential headaches.Overall, the bags impressed me with their quality and paint match, despite some minor alignment issues and the lack of instructions. With a slight modification to the mounting hardware, they will be even more convenient to use.**Picture with the bags on was not fully bolted down as I'm awaiting new hardware.
