Although these look similar to a previous pair we have. The nut holder is a slightly different shape and not quite as practical as the others. Also unfortunately the pin in the hinge keeps falling out making them pretty useless really.

I bought one of these about 25 years ago while in Germany. It's been brilliant as both a nutcracker & champagne bottle opener (also good for other smallish screw tops when the seal is difficult to break). It's still going strong but my mum decided she wanted one too so I was looking for something similarly well made. This one fits the bill. Haven't seen it but mum says it's very well made with good quality wooded handles. There seem to be other makes on Amazon with seemingly cheap stained wood handles that look like they'd split after a few rounds with a Brazil nut! Let's hope this one lasts as long as my original.

Would not crack hazlenuts or Brazil's so only good for walnuts

Very poorly made, Handel split in a couple of days, Hodge never operated correctly, spring fell out. Would not open smaller nuts due to the issue with the hindge.

Managed to open one Almond before the metal piece completely broke when trying to open a second almond. All in all very disappointing device.
