Shocked at how good this is for the price.
Its really small. Easy to use. The range is great as well. We have a 90 foot garden and signal went to the bottom of the garden and still got 20 meg speed. normally I get nothing. Crazy. The UI is great and it updated to the latest firmware and restarted fine, and thats without having to download the firmware and stick it on a USB drive. If I had paid double for this I would till very be happy with it. It also acts as a repeater as well. proper amazing for £30. and it runs from a micro usb cable. Got it powered from an always on USB port on a gaming rig then through powerlines to the router at the other side of the house.

All this for £30??
This pocket router can also be configured as an access point to extend your home or office network. I’ve replaced an old router I was using as an access point and found the signal from GL-AR300M16-Ext better than that from the router that serves the rest of the house. The web UI is very intuitive and there are a ton of features I won’t use but I’m not worried given the price point. You do need to find power, I’m using an old USB phone charger. One tiny criticism is the default password is not unique so make sure you change it to something sensibly secure.I did buy this thinking I’d need two to cover my office and garden however one is perfectly adequate.

Surprisingly good open vpn
Very good modem, but don't expect very fast speeds, the open VPN works very well. It is fairly stable, but needs occasional reboots.

So close to being brilliant
I bought this to provide wireless connectivity to a digital mixing desk. The reviews were a it hit and miss in terms of the set-up but decided to give it a go due to its small footprint and price.I've wired the antennae out and upgraded those and everything works greatPros - it is super simple to set-up, I had it working in minutes. It is very small (which for me is great) and it is god value for money for a 2.4GHz router (it's not dual channel, which isn't an issue for me)Cons - the major problem with this item is the power supply lead (small usb) which falls out with the slightest movement of anything at all. I've got the router velcroed down positioned so the the lead is against the side of the case but even like that it still manages to fall out !!So in short this would be great for a fixed installation but if you're planning on building it into anything that you might move the power lead will keep falling out and will drive you potty !!

More features than your ISP provided router, and its only the size of your palm!
Bought this whilst we travelled. It is based on the very common open source firmware "OpenWRT". It is polishied with a very easy to use GUI, but can go into OpenWRT itself for more control. This little router has more features than every ISP provided router.I use an enterprise router in my home, I set a Wireguard server in my home network, which this little router is connected to. Not only is my data re-routed to my home network, but does so whilst encrypting it. For use in hotels, public wifi or even on the go is invaluable. The wifi range is very good.

Amazing little router!
Wow! This device is slighly bigger than a matchbox and has more functionality than routers costing many times more. I wish I'd discovered these earlier. It's got a full copy of OpenWrt installed. If you're unfamiliar with OpenWrt, it's an open source wireless router project that has just about every conceivable configuration option available, and you can install other apps from a list of about 8,000.There's a polished UI on top of OpenWrt out of the box, but you can also open the native OpenWrt UI called Luci.I've configured it to act as a VPN client and router to connect to home from a remote location. I chose WireGuard VPN because it's easy to setup and enables site to site, so both subnets are permanently connected and visible to each other.I'm definately going to buy more of these. You can just configure it at home and take with you to plug in wherever you need it.
