The dogs love them. I would like to see more in the package for large dogs.

Great for dog’s teeth
I give one to my dog after dinner, she loves them, and is great at keeping her teeth clean.

CHOKING HAZARD
With all of the issues with dog jerky treats we decided to look for other treats to give our dog. So we bought a bag of these at our local warehouse store since he already gets Pedigree canned dog food and likes it. We bought the Dentastix for Large Dogs (on the package it says they are for Large Dogs and not suitable for dogs under 22 pounds). Our dog is 80 pounds. Gave him one of these stix after breakfast one day in the kitchen and he took a bite and the next thing I know he was coughing and pawing at his snout. Apparently a piece of the DentaStix was stuck. Thankfully his pawing worked and he swallowed the stix. OK so definitely no more of these without close supervision I thought. Next time I gave him one (again after breakfast) this time outdoors but I followed him and it's a good thing I did. This time the gagging and coughing was worse and I had to open his mouth and pry the stix loose. That's it not even with supervision can he have these - into the trash they went. I would not even risk giving these away to any of my friends or neighbors that have dogs. So buyer beware and if you are going to use these make sure to stay with your dog and watch for choking hazards.

My Dog LOVES These Dentastix!
I have an 85+lb golden retriever who goes crazy for the Dentastix! The shape of these sticks is supposed to help clean dogs' teeth - so far, my dog has healthy teeth and gums but he's only 3.5yrs old so it's hard to say if his dental health is due to these treats or simply because he is still relatively young. I buy these Dentastix in bulk when they go on sale, and occasionally break them up into smaller "bite-size" pieces when the other treat stashes are running low (my dog probably eats way too many treats than he should, but he's also very active). The sticks are pliable enough to be able to break the large sticks into smaller pieces without much effort (I usually break them into 4 pieces each if just giving them as small rewards throughout the day). The other really nice thing about the Dentastix is that they come in a resealable pouch to keep them fresh - this is especially nice for the jumbo bags because they tend to last a while. There are only 2 real downfalls that I find for these Dentastix:1) My dog can finish a large stick in less than 2 minutes, so I'm not sure how much "dental health" benefit they actually provide.2) They can be relatively expensive for a dog treat unless you can find good coupons or get lucky and catch the rare BOGO sale at local stores.I will certainly be a long-term Dentastix customer and highly recommend these treats to other doggie parents! :)

Must Have The Morning Brush Up!
Our vets and groomers always comment on what fantastic teeth our 6 year old Labradoodle has. She will NOT tolerate brushing, we just give her one Pedigree Dentastix every morning. She RUNS to get her morning 'treat' to clean her teeth. Her breath is fine also! Win/Win! It's a habit that your dog will want to get into! We started these when she was about 6 months old. They are fairly high calorie, so if your dog has weight issues you might want to consider a different product, but ours was actually on the skinny side so it was a good fit in that way. She really loves them and looks forward to her Dentastix every morning.

Finally something for their horrible breath
My dogs have some of the worst smelling mouths around. These have helped clear up the halitosis in no time. We feed them each one daily and have not had to deal with any smell. I have a mastiff, a pit bull and a dachshund. The two bigger dogs have no problem devouring these in seconds and we split them into thirds for the doxie and she gets that smaller piece down easily. These are definitely more of a snack than a bone.

Great!
Our three Malamutes go crazy when we rattle the bag and practically turn into circus performers! We give our pups many dental friendly treats which has paid off because they have not needed dentistry for 3 years. This is really notable because two of them are eight years old. The little one is only 2 years old and dentistry is not recommended until 3 years.

Dog loves something good for him
OK, I don't love it. I offer a Dentastix to my dog after he eats his dinner. Or at least I did at first. Now I have no more than two minutes after he eats his dinner to get one to him before the moaning and cross barking starts. On the assumption that the Dentastix really works, its great to have something he wants to keep his teeth clean.
