Great Budget Dash Cam -- Superior Image Quality for Less than $100!
The media could not be loaded. I am very pleased with this VIOFO A119 dash cam, and chose it because everywhere you look on the Internet it is one of the highest rated budget dashcams. I couldn't agree more. The video quality is superb at every resolution (please see my "Comment" below concerning the actual video clip). The set up is relatively simple, although it's not entirely clear that to set a menu item you have to press the triangular "!" (emergency record) button, not the "Menu" button that is below the "OK" on the LCD screen. The menus are very intuitive, otherwise, and can be displayed in your choice of 13 different languages. There is a conflict between the "motion detection" selection and video recording, and most reviewers indicate that motion detection should be left off, which I did. I was surprised to find both "Lane Deviation" and "Front Collision" warnings as part of the firmware, and have turned both on.I mounted this in my 2014 Nissan Altima directly behind the mirror for an almost invisible installation (just below the suntint along the top of the windshield). My car is in the sun most of the day, either parked or being driven, and previous dash cams operating on batteries have died within a few weeks of installation (don't know for sure whether it was due to overheating or product defects). My expectation is that this capacitor driven cam will perform without incident. Just have to wait and see.The adjustable lens (up/down and left/right) is a plus (left/right is not found on the A119S model). The box includes a short USB Mini data cable and a 12' (or longer) power cable and a cigarette lighter adapter with two USB female ports. I have installed the GPS mount with its top-mounted USB connector also powers the camera and permits easy removal/remounting of the camera. The alternate mounts do not power the camera, so the cable must be plugged into the camera itself. One caveat . . . the short USB cable only recognizes the camera as a "Mass Storage Device" -- you cannot use it to program the menus (with or without a MicroSD card). I had to go through about a half dozen different USB Mini cable I have lying around before I found one that I can use with my laptop to power the camera and check menu settings. This could be an inconvenience. If you don't have a Micro SD card adapter or reader to transfer files, using the data cable only achieves speeds of about 10 mbps. Direct download from the SD card through an adapter comes in at almost 20 mbps (or about 1 Gb of data per minute). The camera has no internal memory, and does not come with a MicroSD card, so you need to purchase one unless you have some available already. I have read that some people were able to use 128 Gb MicroSD cards, but that was not my experience, even after reformatting as FAT32 file structure, and I had to buy a new 64 Gb card before I could use the camera. I have set the camera on 1920 x 1080p resolution at 60 fps, and a 3:00 loop takes about 455 Mb of space at this depth (the two higher resolutions will consume even more space). This translates into about 7.5 hours of continuous or fragmented recording before overwriting existing files begins. This could be problematic, and might require frequent changes of SD cards or downloading of data for archival purposes. Just too bad the firmware won't recognize larger capacity media. (And be careful when dismounting the litte SD card -- the ejection spring can inadvertently shoot the card several feet . . . you might not find it again!)I also purchased the Spy Tec CPL polarizing filter. It clips securely over the camera lens, and the filter can be rotated (not easily) in the mount -- but you have touch both sides of the filter to do so. My filter was set at 90-degrees of polarity, which should be good enough to kill most reflections in my Altima's windshield -- but the sun changes angle throughout the day, and a car doesn't just go in a straight line, and there will be times when the polarizer's value will be nomimal.I have posted the first 3:00 loop recorded.

Great camera, sleek design
UPDATE: I've now had this dash camera for a few months and figured I'd post an update - The camera still works great I'm very happy with my choice of buying it. However, I would have liked more of a smooth positioning option when pointing the lens. In other words, you can pivot the lens up and down as well as right and left. The problem is that you have to click it between angles. It would have been great if I could angle it anywhere within the range without having to actually click it in. I want it angled between 2 of the vertical clicks. The horizontal angling is even more limited - hope this makes sense. In any event, I was able to set it at an acceptable angle and it does take decent video for the price. So, as I mention above, I'm still happy with this dash cam.As for BlackBoxMyCar (the seller) - they were very helpful when I contacted them before purchasing. I haven't needed to call them since. They shipped quickly and I was very satisfied. Their video reviews online are awesome! So far this camera has been great. It records well and runs smoothly without much for me to do. Gives me peace of mind. I really love how sleek it is - it's mounted and minimally noticeable.

Great camera and seller!
Great camera so far! Clear images night or day and the GPS module included for $10 less than Spytec was a plus. Blackboxmycar is a very reputable reseller who is recommended by many dash cam review sites. There does seem to be some sort of circular aura where the color kinda fades away on the edges but the viewable area is still very good. Sometimes it can be slightly hard to see license plates at night if i'm behind a car at a light and the intensity of my headlights blows out the image. Other than that, it is very viewable in most cases. I bought a 16gb Sandisk microsd card to go with this when I bought it, and was good to go right away!No problems powering my camera through GPS module or the camera itself and I recently hard wired it into the home link of my car. Easy to install if you don't hardwire it as you just plug it into a cigarette lighter and there is 3M tape to stick it on. Not sure what the protocol is if I have to change my windshield later on...So far so good, would definitely recommend!

Had power issue with the GPS mount
I bought this dash cam based on buy recommendations on a review website. I, like others ran into the problem using the GPS mount. When powered thru the GPS mount, the camera screen flickered and the camera would continuously power on and off. If plugged in directly to the camera, it works fine. I had to return this item and bought from another vendor because it was out of stock here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't run into the same issue. The ease of use, picture quality, and setup I find to be excellent. Just make sure to set it up as soon as you buy it so you have the full Amazon return period to make sure it works correctly.

Poor quality. Did not last.
Worked great for a month. Started turning off and on intermittently while driving every so often. No constantly turns off and on with the screen flickering constantly for the short duration it stays on. And past the return window. Out 100$.
