Tastes pretty awful but helped my cough
My husband recommended this linctus, but no-one around here sells this. Took a while to be delivered, but glad I ordered this. Tastes pretty bad-I had some vimto to hand to drink right after taking the medicine-and the linctus has helps my cough so much. Had tried several other well known cough bottles, but none worked like this-a spoonful at night helped me sleep so much better

Serious warnings palpitations, bronchial spasms and allergies
Read the serious warnings from the manufacturers about this product. I took one single dose of under 10ml and underwent alarming palpitations and an asthma crisis. The manufacturers are aware the medicine might produce these effects which I shall report to the Yellow Card Scheme to monitor product safety as recommended on the bottle. The manufacturers leave it to the customers to know what allergies harm them, which usually happens by trial and error - and those errors for an asthmatic can be very serious. In my view the product label should clearly state that it is plainly unsuitable for people with bronchial hypersensitivity and skin allergies such as rashes, redness and swelling. I did not measure my heart rate while undergoing the palpitations but they persisted at a frightening rate for nearly an hour, although I have no history of heart disease and no treatment for any heart problem. Red colour amaranth E 123 has been banned by the Food and Drug Administration in the U.S. since 1976 although it is still legal in the UK as far as I know. All benzoates are risky to asthmatics. This product contains three: E 214, 216, 218. One of these - E216 - is, according to my information, no longer permitted in the E.U. or U.K. so why is it in this medicine bottle? If I am misinformed I am sure someone will point this out.I see no purpose at all in adding the suspected carcinogen amaranth E123 if its only purpose is to colour the product to be swallowed, even if it is in small quantities.I am a disinterested customer with no commercial stake in this or any other medicine.

The Daddy Of Them All!
Now...unlike previous posters, I find that this medicine is THE most disgusting I have ever tried, not dissimilar to a certain high street chemist's own bronchial mixture. Hint, it's a form of footwear! Anyway, it tastes like drain cleaner, or toilet duck, due to the ammonia in it, but it is the BEST one out there for shifting nasty chesty coughs, and what's a couple of 'eeew!' moments in the name of a speedier recovery.? I tend to use a little four times a day, diluted in a glass with freshly boiled water (cooled down, of course!), and knocked back like a tequila shot! You can find it in a high street store that has initials like a famous DIY place...but, not quite, for £1. For those of you out there not so keen on taking something you'd strip paint with, Bell's also do a menthol bronchial balsam which is easier on the taste buds, and is the closest thing you will get to the legendary, but sadly discontinued, Gees Linctus (I used to love that!) and also does an excellent job, but it's harder to come by. That said, they are the best two cough mixtures to blitz a bugger of a cough. I've always believed that the worst tasting medicines do the best job, and this one is hard to beat!
