SCOTTeVEST Flex Cargo Pant for Men - 10 Hidden Pockets - Casual for Travel & More

Purchased and the returned. My purpose was travel in hot/humid climates. Pants are more suited to colder climes, but material is too thick to be comfortable when the temp/humidity are high. The "satiny" inner pocket material is a strange choice, and given the very large size of the pocket structure in the pants, affords a large contact area with skin which would be very uncomfortable if one is sweating. Waistband is a good design (expandable), but it's thick, and given the almost-100% cotton content of the material, would not dry for days once soaked through. Pocket design is, quite frankly, poorly thought out - put one or two little things in each pocket and the bulges are far from subtle. If you were to actually put real items in the pockets as the company diagrams suggest, you would look ridiculous, and trying to navigate the pockets as you take items in and out would most certainly draw attention. And don't even THINK of trying to sit down with a few items in the pockets, particularly the stacked back pockets.The little Velcro pocket closures are way too small and easily opened - zippers or buttons are much more secure. Hidden zipper pockets would be much more subtle and more secure. I have Dockers with a zipper pocket in the thigh, and Columbia used to sell light synthetic travel pants with a hidden leg zipper pocket (wish they still sold an updated version - they were great).I might consider these pants for field survey work in thick brush (pockets would be great for field gear), but as travel pants, they are greatly over-rated. Somebody got the idea that more pockets was better, and ran with it, throwing practicality and common-sense to the wind.

These pants are great. I find myself wearing them all the time because they're so convenient. I probably should get another pair so I don't walk around in pants that haven't been washed in 3 weeks ;).

The pants are great. My issue is I’ve lost weight since ordering and they are pretty loose. Due to the design, they are easily taken in to achieve a better fit.

I was having hip surgery out of town. As I'd be flying home, and on crutches, I wanted everything as carry-on as I wouldn't be able to tow a suitcase. So I bought these pants together with a ScotteVest and a backpack. These were the perfect combination for my purpose. There was plenty of room for items in both pants and vest, saving the backpack for changes of clothes and toiletries only. The pants are stretchy (important after hip surgery) and very comfortable.However, to make these a great general purpose travel pant, they should lose those large open slash pockets on the back. They look dorky, and even on crutches and carrying everything on me, I had no need for them. You'd be sitting on them anyway. There was plenty of room in the other pockets and I used the vest or backpack for the rest. They're also on the heavier side so better for cooler weather although they seem to breathe well.I wanted to give 4.5 stars as they are not sold as travel pants. I think they could be though if designed that way. Or maybe ScotteVest could make a separate line without those weird pockets on the back.Overall though, a good pair of pants that I do wear often and are far more comfortable than jeans.
